The agitation launched by the masons is continuing, demanding an increase in their wage rates in line with the increased cost of living. On this occasion, the masons held a large meeting at the mandal center and discussed their problems and difficulties they are facing. Speaking at the meeting, several masons expressed their grief that despite working hard in the sun and rain all day, the current wage has become a burden for their families. They said that the prices of essential commodities, electricity charges, gas prices and transportation costs have increased significantly in the last few years, but they are facing serious difficulties as their wage rates have not increased. They stated that in the wake of the recent increase in costs in the construction sector as well, there is a need for workers to be given due respect and remuneration for their hard work. They demanded that the government respond immediately and take steps to recognize the problems of the masons and officially increase the wage rates. They announced that they would continue the movement until their demands were met, and the already started bandh program would continue until the 16th of this month. They warned that if the government did not respond, the agitation could escalate further. On this occasion, a new executive committee of the Yacharam Mandal Masons Association was also elected.
