In the wake of the death of two workers in an ammonia leak incident at a seafood processing unit in Tiruvallur, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay has constituted a three-member special committee. The committee includes the Director of Industrial Safety, Member Secretary of the Pollution Control Board and Additional Director of the Public Health Department. He has ordered a preliminary report to be submitted within 24 hours and a final report within three days. The government has decided to provide better medical services to the victims and conduct comprehensive inspections in hazardous industries. In addition to announcing financial assistance to the families of the deceased, special measures will be taken on labor safety.
