Officials said most of the dead were students. The building, which houses a graphics and animation coaching centre, a library and a pet shop, caught fire in the afternoon, forcing people inside to try to escape. Some students were seen jumping from the building to save their lives. Police have arrested three people and suspended four officers in connection with the incident. The state government has formed a special investigation team. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced financial assistance to the families of the deceased.
