Serious negligence in Yacharam-Medipalli road works: Work has been going on for six months – Officials forgot about the construction of a culvert in Malgejgudem. The road development work undertaken from Yacharam to Medipalli in Yacharam mandal of Ibrahimpatnam constituency of Rangareddy district has been going on for the past six months, but its completion has led to deep dissatisfaction among the local people. The villagers allege that this road work, which was started with the intention of providing better transport facilities to the people, has now become a sign of the negligence of the authorities. Excavations have been carried out at many places within the Yacharam-Medipalli main road and road expansion work has been undertaken. However, even after months of work, the road construction has not been completed, and commuters are facing serious difficulties. Especially during the rainy season, two-wheeler riders are at risk of accidents due to water logging, mud accumulation, and potholes on the road. According to the allegations of the locals, the authorities have completely neglected the construction of a very crucial culvert at Malgejgudem village on the way from Yacharam. Despite the road construction work, it is surprising that the necessary culvert has not been constructed for the flow of water. People are concerned that the road will be damaged in the future if there is no culvert as rainwater and water flow from the village in the areas adjacent to the village are likely to pass through this area. The soil, stones, and construction materials excavated during the road work have accumulated on the side of the road, obstructing the movement of vehicles. Locals say that safety measures have not been taken properly on the side of the road. They say that the risk of accidents has increased due to the lack of lighting at night. According to the villagers, when the work started, the authorities had promised that the road would be completed soon, but no progress has been seen even after months. They believe that the lack of supervision over the road work, the contractor’s negligent attitude, and lack of coordination between the relevant departments are the reasons for this situation. At present, the road is in a state of gravel in some parts, while in other places the excavation has not been completed and has stopped midway. When it rains, water accumulates in the potholes, causing vehicles to slip. School students, farmers, employees, and people traveling for emergency services face difficulties every day. Experts suggest that due to the lack of construction of a culvert at Malgejgudem, water flow is likely to come directly onto the road during heavy rains. They warn that this may damage the quality of the road and also pose a risk to people’s lives. Locals are demanding that public representatives and relevant authorities respond immediately and expedite the road work and immediately undertake the construction of the necessary culvert at Malgejgudem. They also want special inspections to be conducted on the quality of the work and action taken against those who are negligent. People are waiting, not knowing when the construction work of this road, which has been going on for six months, will be completed. Locals are of the opinion that there is a need for the authorities to take immediate action so that the work started in the name of development does not become a problem for the people. “They are building a road but they forgot to build a culvert… People have been suffering for six months. The authorities should respond now and complete the work,” the people of Malgejgudem village are appealing.
