Nellore BSNL network is ranked number one in the state, said Member of Parliament and Telecom Advisory Committee Chairman Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy. Nellore Parliament Member Sri Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy participated in the Telecom Advisory Committee meeting held at BSNL headquarters in Nellore on Tuesday. Speaking to the media on this occasion, the MP said that they discussed many telecom issues in the Telecom Advisory Committee meeting. He said that the officials have examined all the issues raised by the members of the Telephone Advisory Committee in the last meeting. General Manager Srinivasa Rao also informed about many of them. He said that 28 new cell towers have come into operation in the district. He said that 82 cell phone towers are under construction. He said that permissions have been received for the establishment of 34 cell phone towers in the Udayagiri constituency in particular. He said that BSNL towers are being set up only where there is 60 percent coverage. He said that the central government is proposing to set up cell phone towers even where there is 90 percent coverage. He said that if permissions are received from the government, the BSNL network signals will be further expanded. He said that the BSNL network in the district has been profitable for the last two years. He said that last year it received an income of Rs. 48 crore. This year it received an income of Rs. 49 crore. He said that the BSNL network, which was in loss in the past, is in profit today. He said that the employees and staff are working as if they consider the BSNL network as their own. He said that all the members of the District Telephone Advisory Committee are happy and that it is very gratifying that the BSNL network is at the forefront in the district during his tenure as chairman. He said that all the members of the Advisory Committee should actively participate in the future as well. He said on this occasion that the issues raised by the members will be resolved in the next meeting. Advisory Committee members and BSNL officials participated in the program.
