Karnataka High Court stays RTE quota

The High Court has temporarily stayed the Karnataka government’s order to continue the benefits of RTE quota for students belonging to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes in classes 9 and 10. The court took this decision after hearing a petition filed by private school associations in the state. The court issued the interim order as there was a dispute over the scope of facilities provided to students under the RTE Act. The implementation of the order has been suspended till the final verdict in the case. This issue is likely to affect thousands of students and schools in the state.
