Asifabad (Punnami Representative): On the occasion of the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, a wide-scale awareness program will be organized in the district on the 26th of this month, said District Welfare Officer of the Empowerment Department of the District Disabled, Elderly and Transgender Persons Swaroop Rani in a statement. As per the orders of District Collector K. Haritha, district-level awareness meetings, a massive anti-drug e-pledge, poster, slogan writing and essay writing competitions will be organized in schools and colleges. He said that ASHA workers and Anganwadi staff will go door to door in the villages and organize IEC programs to create awareness about the ill effects of drugs. He said that public representatives, police department officials, officials of various departments, students, youth, representatives of voluntary organizations and the public will participate in these programs. He said that the youth should stay away from drugs and adopt a healthy lifestyle, and everyone should play their part in building a drug-free society. He urged every citizen of the district to take the national anti-drug e-pledge. He said that the pledge can be made through the online platform created by the central government for this purpose.
