Ponaka Kanakamma Ashaya Sadhana Samiti and Kavikokila Duvvur Ramireddy Vigyan Samiti have appealed to Ongole Parliament Member Magunta Srinivasulu Reddy to support the proposal to establish a women’s university in her name, the Bharat Ratna for freedom fighter, founder of Pinakini Ashram in Nellore, Mrs. Ponaka Kanakamma, who sacrificed everything for girls’ education. Responding to the request made by representatives Jayapratap Reddy and Dagumati Krishna under the leadership of Samiti convener Surendra Nath Reddy at Magunta’s office in Ongole, Magunta agreed to contribute his share. He said that Kanakamma, a prestigious person in Nellore district, needs to be given that honor. The Samiti thanked Magunta Srinivasulu Reddy for his announcement that he will attend the Jayanti celebrations to be held in Hyderabad in July.
