Under the auspices of the School Education Department, Sri Potti Sriramulu Nellore District NGO Home distributed free assistive devices worth Rs. 22.14 lakhs to 394 students with special needs. Zilla Parishad Chairperson Anam Arunamma, who attended the program as the chief guest, said that in the 2025-26 academic year, the government has allocated Rs. 71.82 lakhs for scholarships, escort allowance, transport allowance, girls’ stipend, home-based education and other schemes for differently abled students. Nellore Mayor Devarakonda Sujatha said that on behalf of the city government, they are committed to providing necessary facilities to children with special needs. District Education Officer Dr. Raja Balaji Rao said that since government schools are providing quality education, differently abled students are also achieving good results and urged parents to encourage government schools. Additional Project Coordinator D. Venkata Subbaiah said that six autism centers are being set up in Nellore, Buchireddypalem, Atmakur, Kavali, Vinjamur and Gudur under the PM Sri scheme. He revealed that free medical services and physiotherapy worth Rs. 30 thousand to Rs. 50 thousand will be provided to each student through these. The equipment distributed includes TLM kits, hearing aids, Braille kits, wheelchairs, battery operated motorized tricycles, rollators and other equipment. Local Corporator Bobbala Srinivasa Yadav, AMO Sudheer Babu, IE Coordinator Prasad Rao, Mandal Education Officer Murali, ALINCO representative Soni Yadav, Samagra Shiksha officers, IERPs and parents participated in the program.
