Apollo Specialty Hospital, Nellore has once again proven its ability to provide world-class medical services even in the most dangerous and complicated pregnancy cases, establishing public trust in the medical field. It successfully performed a rare and highly dangerous 35-week triplet pregnancy in a first-time pregnant woman. The expert medical team led by the hospital’s Senior Gynecologist Dr. T.G. Lakshmi Durga safely delivered three healthy babies through this procedure. Usually, triplets are born in a single delivery. Only one in 8,000 mothers gives birth to triplets in a single delivery. This case became a challenge as the woman had gestational diabetes. However, the medical team successfully performed the surgery with utmost care, comprehensive treatment, and precise surgical planning, and the mother delivered three healthy babies. A multidisciplinary team of anaesthetists, physicians, neonatologists and nursing staff led by Dr. T.G. Lakshmi Durga, who performed regular ultrasound examinations of the mother before delivery, monitored fetal growth, and strictly controlled blood glucose levels, achieved a safe outcome. The mother and the three babies are currently healthy. Speaking at a media conference organized on the occasion, Dr. T.G. Lakshmi Durga said that pregnancy with triplets is a very challenging matter in obstetrics, and if it is accompanied by diabetes, it should be considered a high-risk case.
