At least 15 people were killed in a massive fire that broke out in a three-storey commercial building in Lucknow’s Aliganj area on Monday. Most of the dead were students, officials said. The building houses a graphics and animation training centre, a library and a pet shop. As soon as the fire broke out, some students jumped from the building to save their lives. 12 fire engines reached the spot and brought the fire under control. The Uttar Pradesh government has formed a special investigation team into the incident. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced compensation for the families of the deceased.
