As per the orders of the Honorable District Collector of Nellore District, Sri Potti Sriramulu, continuous sea patrols are being conducted with two mechanized boats under the joint auspices of the Fisheries Department, Marine Police and Forest Departments to identify and stop those who are carrying out illegal fishing activities in Andhra Pradesh waters in violation of the rules of mechanized big boats belonging to other states in the sea waters of the district. In this context, today (17.06.2026) during the sea patrol, two mechanized fishing boats belonging to the state of Tamil Nadu were found to have entered and been engaged in fishing illegally in the territorial waters of Andhra Pradesh about 15 km off the coast of Indukurupeta mandal. Immediately, joint teams of the Fisheries Department, Marine Police and Forest Departments took action and seized and detained the two boats. Later, the seized boats were shifted to Juvvaladinne Harbor and handed over to the Marine Police officials for further legal action. Relevant officials said that strict action will continue in the future against those involved in illegal fishing in Andhra Pradesh waters, and the government is committed to protecting the rights of local fishermen along with conserving fisheries resources.
