Haryana-Rajasthan sign agreement for use of Yamuna waters

The governments of Haryana and Rajasthan have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to implement more efficient use of Yamuna river waters. The agreement was signed in the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah. The main objective of this project is to supply the water allocated to Rajasthan through an underground pipeline as per the Yamuna Water Sharing Agreement signed in 1994. Officials said that with the implementation of this project, a permanent solution to the water problem that has been going on for almost three decades will be found. The government expressed hope that the efficient use of water resources will improve the needs of agriculture and drinking water.
