Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has written to Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, alleging that illegal tolls are being collected from cattle transport vehicles going to Jammu and Kashmir. He said that despite having all the permits and legal documents, some contractor groups are stopping the vehicles and collecting illegal tolls. He expressed concern that this is not only increasing the financial burden on the transporters but also affecting the welfare of the animals. He urged him to take immediate action on this matter and ensure that there is no hindrance to the legally travelling vehicles. The government said that these illegal tolls are also affecting the prices of meat.
