The central government has announced that all restrictions imposed earlier on the sale of petrol and diesel across the country will be lifted from July 1. The government has made it clear that the restrictions imposed as a precaution to prevent disruption in fuel supply due to tensions in West Asia are not necessary at present. In addition to completely lifting the restriction on diesel sales at retail pumps, industrial consumers have also been allowed to buy fuel from regular petrol pumps again. The petroleum ministry said that the fuel supply situation in the country has stabilized and the problems of black marketing and hoarding have reduced.
