Preparations for the Mahadharna of Halo Upa Sarpanchs are complete. A huge protest program will be held in Hyderabad on June 25 – Yacharam Mandal Upa Sarpanchs call Hyderabad, June 24: The Upa Sarpanchs Association has announced that a huge Mahadharna will be held at Dharana Chowk in Hyderabad on June 25 to resolve the problems faced by Upa Sarpanchs across the state. Thousands of Upa Sarpanchs and ward members from all over the state will attend this program. They are demanding that the Upa Sarpanchs, who play a key role in the development of gram panchayats, be given proper respect, powers and financial security. In particular, they are demanding that Upa Sarpanchs be paid a monthly salary of Rs. 5,000 and ward members be paid Rs. 3,000, and that they be given due recognition in the village administration. The leaders expressed their grief that despite bringing their problems to the attention of the government several times, no solution has been found. This has led to a situation where they have to go on a Mahadharna to assert their rights. On this occasion, the Sangha leaders called for the participation of the sub-sarpanches and ward members of all the districts of the state in a large scale to make the program a success. They demanded that the government immediately resolve the problems of the sub-sarpanches and ward members if the village self-governance system is to be strengthened. During the Mahadharna, the Sangha representatives warned that the government should take a positive decision on their just demands, otherwise they will intensify the movement in the future.
