The accused person should not be appointed as a Qazi: Appeal from the victim’s mother

June 24: Komaram Bheem Asifabad District (Punnami Representative) A mother met Dr. Sahera Bhanu, the state president of the National Human Rights Protection Committee in the district headquarters. She requested the cancellation of the GOR No. 69 dated May 19, 2026, seeking the appointment of Mir Taher Ali Hashmi, whom she alleges is the murderer of her daughter Reshma Begum (Sadia), as the Government Qazi of Asifabad. According to Sharia, a Qazi is a magistrate from the Muslim community, and as a victim, a Muslim woman, on behalf of the entire Muslim community, she has requested the cancellation of this GOR No. 69. According to the complaint of the mother, Naseema Sultana, after her daughter Reshma Begum got married to Mir Akhtar Ali Hashmi, he along with his family members physically and mentally abused her. Among them, her own brother Mir Taher Ali Hashmi was also a mastermind, she said. The mother alleged that Mir Taher Ali Hashmi not only harassed her daughter for extra dowry, but was also fully involved in taking her life, and that all of them encouraged her daughter to commit suicide. She said that a case has been registered in this regard under FAR No. 262/2023, IPC sections 498(A), 306, 34. Mir Taher Ali Hashmi, a resident of Asifabad, son of Mir Sabir Ali, is an accused in a murder case registered at Santosh Nagar police station in Hyderabad, which is under trial in the Nampally court, Naseema Sultana said. She questioned how Mir Taher Ali Hashmi, who killed a girl, can marry off the bride and groom when he is given a responsible post like Qazi. It also demanded that a case be registered against this person under Section 420 of the IPC, saying that doing so would be a great insult to the Muslim community. In the interest of justice, Nasima Sultana, wife of Syed Ghulam Hussain, a resident of Mancherial, once again requested that GORG No. 69 dated May 19, 2026, be quashed.
