Palestinian Ambassador Abdullah Abu Shavesh has appealed to India to provide emergency medical assistance to the Palestinian health system, saying that the health system in Palestine is in a serious crisis. He said that there is a complete shortage of many key medicines in hospitals in the Gaza and West Bank areas. He said that 50 of the 97 types of medicines needed for cancer treatment are not available. He said that thousands of patients are facing difficulties in getting treatment. He asked that the ‘Arogya Maitri’ program announced by the Indian government be extended to Palestine as well. He said that international humanitarian cooperation is urgent.
