The government has issued orders to upgrade the Mahatma Jyotiba Phule BC Girls’ Gurukul School in Atmakur constituency to a junior college. This sanction was received as a result of the special efforts of the State Endowments Minister Anam Ramanarayana Reddy. MPC and BYPC groups will be started in this college. This will make quality intermediate education available locally to poor girls from local and rural areas without having to go to distant places. With the initiative of Minister Anam, along with Atmakur, the Gurukul School in Golagamudi in Nellore district has also been upgraded to a junior college. It is noteworthy that six schools across the state have been upgraded, of which two have been in Nellore district. Students and parents are expressing joy over this decision.
