State Transport and BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar launched the scheme in Hyderabad. The scheme will be applicable to about 29 lakh students studying in government schools from pre-primary to intermediate. The government has said that the main objective is to ensure that students do not attend classes hungry and to improve their health. The state government has allocated Rs. 740 crore for this scheme.
