They have planned frauds targeting wedding halls and catering agencies. They have extorted huge amounts of money in the form of commissions from them by saying that there are large-scale functions, that the wedding hall needs to be rented, that they will give catering contracts, and that they are paying cash in advance. This scam, which has been going on for the last three days, came to light on Saturday. Going into details… A person named Sarathkumar, the hall manager of Gudivada, called from the number 9398053148, as the MLA PA Sashi of Gudivada said that it would be suitable to organize a huge exhibition of Benares sarees at the local IMA Hall in Satyanarayanapuram. He collected the details of two leading catering agencies in the town from him. He contacted them over the phone. First, he asked how much it would cost to arrange meals (veg, non-veg) and snacks for 500 people per day. While contacting them, he used the names of the Kalyana Mandapam Manager and PA Sashi. He confidently said that he would pay in advance and put them in the basket. He took their phone numbers and first sent them Rs. 1. Along with this, he sent them a photo of himself holding Rs. 1.50 lakhs in cash on WhatsApp. After that, he called them again and said that the GST problem was getting in the way, and assured them that he would give them the contract, send them the commission they were due immediately, and deposit the advance money into their account immediately. With this, they transferred the money in installments to the phone numbers indicated by the cybercriminal. Lakhs of rupees were deposited into different accounts. The two catering managers who escaped tried their best to convince the catering manager from Gudlavalleru by calling him and telling him the same story. He sent a photo of bundles of money, saying that he would send him an advance of Rs. 1.50 lakhs if he paid the commission money. Since the second Saturday was a holiday for banks, he got suspicious and refused to pay the money. With this, he is avoiding being a victim of cybercrime. He called the Kalyana Mandapam Manager, believing that CNR Gardens would be suitable for organizing an exhibition in Kaikalur, as Kaikalur MLA PA Dhanunjay had told him. He inquired about who would do good catering in Kaikalur. He contacted a catering manager in Kaikalur and tried to convince him by telling the same story. With this, the catering manager immediately called his close relative, a catering manager from Gudlavalleru, and asked how much he should charge for a plate of food. When the catering manager understood the matter, he explained that he had also received a similar phone call and that it was all a fraud. With this, the Kaikalur catering manager called the person he had convinced him to give him the contract and said that he would meet him directly. When cybercriminal Sarathkumar told him that he was in Gudivada, he said on the phone that he was also in Gudivada and was coming to meet him directly. With this, Sarathkumar stopped calling and giving lifts. Meanwhile, it is to be known how many people have lost money after getting caught in the cyber fraud trap. *Threats that I am not new to jail…* Upon learning about the matter, Shashi called the person and asked what this was. If you immediately send Rs. 25 thousand, these phone calls will stop in your constituency, otherwise, do something.. I am not new to jail, the stranger said rudely. With this, the Gudivada MLA office administrators posted on social media and alerted the people and businessmen about this matter. MLA Venigandla Ramu said that he had come to the notice of some cybercriminals using the names of their Prajavedika office staff to make phone calls. It was clarified that no one would receive any calls from Prajavedika. If anyone calls about contracts or bills, they should immediately contact the relevant police station or the cybercrime helpline number 1930 and bring it to the attention of the Prajavedika office.
