The central government has implemented new rules on non-governmental organizations (NGOs) receiving foreign funds. Now, the organizations must disclose details of their activities, scope of services, websites, social media accounts and publications. Foreign funds will have to be used only for permitted activities. Violation of the rules will attract a minimum fine of ₹1 lakh. The Union Home Ministry said that this decision has been taken to increase transparency in the use of foreign funds.
