The central government has taken a key decision in the wake of the NEET (UG) 2026 re-examination. It has ordered the temporary blocking of the Telegram app in the wake of the spread of fake question papers and fraudulent information related to the exams. Officials said that these measures were taken at the request of the National Testing Agency (NTA). Investigation revealed that several Telegram groups were deceiving students by promising to provide NEET question papers in advance. Following this, the Cyber Crime Branch and state police departments jointly removed several groups. The government has also suggested that the message editing feature be temporarily disabled. Although Telegram founder Pavel Durov criticized the decision, the NTA clarified that this action is necessary for the future protection of students.
