Steps should be taken to eradicate private education exploitation – Tribal groups demand June 29 Khammam District Punnami Representative Gugulot Bhauvusingh Nayak Bhadradri Kothagudem: At a public meeting organized at the District Collectorate on Monday, the Tribal Students’ Union (GVS) organized a peaceful dharna with the support of tribal groups and student associations and submitted a comprehensive petition to the District Collector. Speaking on the occasion, Tribal Students’ Union National General Secretary Mood Balaji Nayak expressed concern that at a time when government education should be strengthened in Bhadradri Kothagudem district, private educational institutions are turning education into a corporate business and putting a heavy financial burden on parents. They demanded that the district administration pay special attention to issues like high fees, forced sale of textbooks, notebooks, uniforms, shoes, cheating parents with fake CBSE names, and causing excessive mental stress on children in the name of coaching like NEET, IIT, long-term. Similarly, they demanded that 25 percent free admissions be strictly implemented as per the Right to Education Act (RTE), regular MEOs be appointed, vacant teaching posts in government schools be filled, infrastructure, free uniforms, breakfast scheme be effectively implemented, and the health of students should be protected by implementing the central government guidelines on the weight of school bags. They also demanded in the petition submitted to the Collector to conduct a special joint inspection of all private schools in the district and take strict action against educational institutions violating the rules.
