‘Outbreak calendar’ to predict disease spread in Kerala

The Kerala government has decided to create a special ‘outbreak calendar’ to predict the spread of diseases in the state in advance. The move comes in the wake of the high incidence of diseases like Nipah virus and Shigellosis during certain periods. Health Minister K. Muraleedharan said the aim is to study seasonal patterns of diseases and take preventive measures. Officials believe that this system will give the public health department more accuracy in controlling diseases.
