We will continue the fight until the project is resumed: Mekapati Vikram Reddy YSRCP leaders visited Somasila Atmakur (Representative of Harikiran and Punnami): Former Atmakur MLA Mekapati Vikram Reddy said that the suspension of the Rayalaseema Lift Irrigation Project work will cause long-term damage to Nellore district and that he will continue to fight along with the people until the project is resumed. He visited the Somasila reservoir on Thursday along with YSRCP district president and former minister Kakani Govardhan Reddy, MLC Parvatareddy Chandrasekhar Reddy and other leaders as part of the Rayalaseema lift irrigation project. Speaking on the occasion, Mekapati said that if Krishna waters are diverted to Somashila through Rayalaseema Lift Irrigation, irrigation water will be beneficial for Atmakur and Udayagiri constituencies as well as Kavali and Venkatagiri areas. He said that there is a need to complete the project keeping in mind the future water needs. He said that if the project is completed, the Metta areas of Nellore district will get assured of irrigation and drinking water. He criticized that the works were carried out with the funds allocated in the past and stopping them now is against the public interest. He suggested that foresight is needed in the use of water resources and that the projects should be completed keeping in mind climate change and increasing needs. Stating that it is part of democracy for the opposition to question public issues, Mekapati clarified that they will continue the movement with the people for Rayalaseema Lift Irrigation. Former Zilla Parishad Chairman Bommireddy Raghavendra Reddy, Nellore Rural In-charge Anam Jayakumar Reddy, Kavali In-charge Ramireddy Pratap Reddy, Venkatagiri In-charge Nedurumalli Ram Kumar Reddy, Sullurpet In-charge Kiliveti Sanjeevaiah and others participated in the program.
