Khammam, June (Puvvada Nagendra Kumar Punnami District Reporter) BJP District Education Cell Convenor Achanti Koteswara Rao has expressed his concern that private educational institutions in Khammam district are turning education into a business and seriously robbing parents. Speaking to Khammam District Punnami Reporter Puvvada Nagendra Kumar on Monday, Achanti Koteswara Rao alleged that LKG and UKG students are being pressured to buy textbooks, stationery and uniforms worth thousands of rupees from the same schools. He said that in the name of children’s education, they are burdening lakhs of rupees in the name of books costing from ₹3 thousand to ₹10 thousand, and additionally uniforms, shoes, bags, transportation and special coaching fees. He said that charging thousands of rupees for special material in the name of IIT and NEET Foundation from the seventh grade is outrageous. He criticized that many schools are violating the fee control rules set by the government and that if parents question them, they are hindering the future of the students and putting them under mental stress. He demanded that the education department officials conduct special inspections on private schools in the district and take strict action against high fees, forced book sales and uniform scams. He asked the government to issue orders to publicly display the details of fees in every school. Education should be a service. Not a business. Achanti Koteswara Rao clarified that the government should take an iron fist against the education mafia that is looting the hard-earned money of parents. Achanti Koteswara Rao warned the Telangana state Congress government that complaints should be received from across the district and a thorough investigation should be conducted on the irregularities of private educational institutions and that if necessary, they will prepare for a movement together with the affected parents.
