The Union Cabinet has approved an additional allocation of ₹30,000 crore for the National Investment and Infrastructure Fund (NIIF) to accelerate the development of the country’s infrastructure. These funds will be used for the development of roads, railways, airports, power, renewable energy projects and urban infrastructure. Officials said that this fund will be used to attract domestic and foreign institutional investments in addition to government investments. The central government has said that this is likely to increase long-term investments and expand employment opportunities.
