Northeast India’s largest organic spice processing center inaugurated in Meghalaya

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman inaugurated Northeast India’s largest organic spice processing center in Meghalaya. Set up in Ri-Bhoi district, the center will be able to process 10,000 metric tonnes of spices per year. A wide range of organic spices, including turmeric and pepper, will be refined here and sent to the market. The project will directly benefit over 5,500 farmers. Along with increasing farmers’ income, it will also create new opportunities for the agriculture sector in the Northeast.
