The West Bengal government has clarified the controversy over the order issued to make it mandatory for government employees to participate in International Yoga Day programs. It told the Calcutta High Court that participation in the program is completely voluntary and there will be no punitive action for non-attendance. With this, the High Court closed the case. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend a huge yoga program to be held on Red Road in Kolkata on June 21. Officials said that more than 35,000 people are likely to participate. The government has made it clear in the court that it respects the personal decisions of employees.
