A free assistive devices distribution program was organized at Sri Potti Sriramulu Nellore District NGO Home under the auspices of School Education – Samagra Shiksha (Comprehensive Education). Assistive devices worth Rs. 22.14 lakhs were distributed to 394 special needs students in this program. Zilla Parishad Chairperson Anam Arunamma, who attended the program as the chief guest, said that in the 2025-26 academic year, the government has provided financial assistance to differently abled students under schemes such as Escort Allowance, Transport Allowance, Girls’ Stipend, Home Based Education, etc. with a total budget of Rs. 71.82 lakhs. Nellore City Mayor Devarakonda Sujatha said that the city government is cooperating in every way to provide necessary facilities to children with special needs. District Education Officer Dr. Raja Balaji Rao said that due to the quality education provided in government schools, students with special needs have also achieved excellent results this academic year along with general students. He called on every parent to enroll their children in government schools and shape their future to the best. A special medical camp was organized for 394 students selected for the year 2025-26 with the help of Alinco and assistive devices were distributed today according to their needs. These include hearing aids, braille kits, teaching learning material (TLM) kits, wheelchairs, motorized tricycles and rollators. Additional Project Coordinator D. Venkata Subbaiah said that for the first time in the country, 6 special autism centers have been sanctioned in the district under the PM Sri scheme under the auspices of Samagra Shiksha. He said that the construction work of these centers is going on in various stages in Nellore, Buchireddypalem, Atmakur, Kavali, Vinjamur and Gudur areas. It was revealed that free medical services ranging from Rs. 30 thousand to Rs. 50 thousand will be provided to each student through these centers, as well as free physiotherapy services to each student with special needs. Key equipment distributed TLM kits (Early Intervention Group) – 3 TLM kits (Secondary & Pre-Vocational Group) – 140 Mamata model wheelchairs – 17 Battery-powered motorized tricycles – 4 Saathi model wheelchairs – 48 A total of 394 devices along with other necessary assistive devices. The total value of these assistive devices distributed by Alinco is Rs. 22,13,708 (approximately Rs. 22.14 lakhs). Local Corporator Bobbala Srinivasa Yadav, AMO Sudheer Babu, IE Coordinator Prasad Rao, Nellore Mandal Education Officer Murali, ALINCO Representative Soni Yadav, Samagra Shiksha Sectoral Officers, IERPs, teachers, parents and students participated in the program.
