Distribution of 56 Braille learning kits for the educational development of visually impaired students

Sri Potti Sriramulu The government is giving special priority to the educational development of visually impaired students studying in PM Sri schools in Nellore district, said District Samagra Shiksha Additional Project Coordinator (APC) D. Venkata Subbaiah. On Saturday, a distribution program of Braille teaching-learning material kits for children with special needs was organized at the District Samagra Shiksha Office under the auspices of the Inclusive Education Department. Speaking on the occasion, he said that a total of 56 Braille learning kits have been distributed keeping in mind the needs of visually impaired students studying in selected PM Sri schools across the district. He said that these kits contain modern educational equipment like Maths Volume, Activities Set for classes 6 to 10, Basic Tactile Globe, Tactile Geometry Kit. He said that through these devices, students will be able to read, write, understand mathematical and geographical concepts easily. He advised that records related to the use of the kits should be maintained properly in each school and steps should be taken to ensure that they are effectively used by the students. District Academic Monitoring Officer (AMO) Sudheer Babu said that the 56 Braille kits distributed should be physically inspected and recorded in the stock registers. He also revealed that the quality of the equipment would be checked and satisfaction certificates would be collected from the concerned schools and sent to the State Project Office. District Inclusive Education Coordinator (DIEC) P. Prasad Rao, principals of various schools and education department officials participated in this program. This program marked another milestone in the government’s efforts to provide quality education to visually impaired students.
