Suspension of officials in Nellore district

The government has taken strict action against two MPDOs for negligence in sanitation maintenance work in Nellore district. Senior officials have taken strict action against administrative failures in the joint Nellore district. Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Commissioner Mylavarapu Krishna Teja issued orders on Tuesday suspending two MPDOs for negligence in the most crucial sanitation maintenance work in rural areas. Sullurpet MPDO A.V. Muralikrishna and Tada MPDO D. Sekhar Nayak are among those suspended. A preliminary inquiry has revealed that they have shown serious negligence in the establishment and management of the government’s prestigious scheme ‘Swachh Rathas’. The government has introduced these Swachh Rathas to improve sanitation in rural areas and to carry out garbage collection in a systematic manner. However, the commissioner stated in his order that these officers, being in responsible positions, failed to supervise at the field level. The higher officials expressed their deep anger over the negligence towards sanitation management, ignoring the government orders. It is reported that despite repeated instructions in the past to the officers to work in line with the government’s objectives and to be vigilant about their duties, disciplinary action was taken as there was no change in their performance. This incident has created a stir among MPDOs and other field officers across the district. The government has sent a signal through these suspensions that strict action will be taken if there is negligence in taking government schemes to the people or in their management. The officials have made it clear that the suspended officers will have to follow the orders without any exception to join their duties immediately. This development has led to a discussion on the responsible functioning of the administrative machinery in the district.
