Puvvada Nagendra Kumar (Punnami District Reporter) Konijarla police in Khammam district intercepted a huge shipment of marijuana and seized 201.45 kg of dried marijuana worth over Rs 1 crore. Konijarla ASS Suraj said that five accused have been arrested in this case and sent to remand. On the orders of Vaira ACP Sarangapani, the police conducted vehicle checks near HP Petrol Bunk in Konijarla and in front of Sathya Sai Foundry. On this occasion, a Bolero vehicle with registration number TG 17 T 1992 going from Vaira towards Khammam and a Maruti Dzire car with registration number TS 17 U 1941 coming as a pilot were found suspicious and checked. During the checks, it was found that the Bolero vehicle was illegally transporting dried marijuana and five people were detained and questioned. The police have identified them as residents of Latur district in Maharashtra and Kamareddy districts in Telangana. 201.45 kg of dried ganja, drugs worth about Rs. 1,00,50,000, 7 cellphones, Rs. 2,800 in cash, a Maruti Dzire car and a Bolero vehicle were seized from the accused. The arrested accused were produced in court and remanded, said Sub-Inspector Suraj, adding that the suppliers and receivers of the ganja are absconding. Investigation is on to arrest them.
