Important note for livestock farmers.. Distribution of vaccines against sore throat and blue tongue diseases from July 1: AD Dr. Chaitanya Kishore

Mass vaccination program for livestock protection begins in Nellore district. As part of the state-wide free mass vaccination program undertaken by the Andhra Pradesh Government and the Animal Husbandry Department, a special drive has begun in our district from today, said Dr. Jana Chaitanya Kishore, Assistant Director, Nellore District Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory (ADDL), in a statement. In this month-long program, which will last from July 1 to July 30, 2026, free vaccines will be distributed for cattle against sore throat (HS) and sheep against blue tongue. Dr. Jana Chaitanya Kishore has urged the livestock keepers and sheep breeders in the district to follow the following advice to protect their livestock: 1. Get vaccinated against sore throat (HS) Why should you get vaccinated?: Due to the changing weather conditions of the upcoming monsoon season, cows and buffaloes are at high risk of contracting sore throat. This is a deadly bacterial disease that spreads very quickly. Advice: Cooperate with the vaccination staff who come to your village and get all your livestock vaccinated against HS. 2. Why should sheep be vaccinated against Blue Tongue?: During this season, blue tongue disease spreads rapidly in sheep through flies and mosquitoes. Due to this, the animals cannot graze and may become seriously ill with mouth ulcers and die. Advice: All the sheep in your flock must be vaccinated against blue tongue. 3. Contact the Rythu Seva Kendras (RSK) in your area * For complete details, schedule and dates of distribution of these free vaccines, contact the staff of the Rythu Seva Kendras (RSK) in your villages or local veterinary officers immediately. * After the vaccination is completed, the staff will register the details and vaccination information of your livestock online on the Bharat Pashudhan portal, please support this. 💡 **Important Advice:** It is better to vaccinate and protect your livestock before the disease arrives than to suffer from treatment after it arrives. All the livestock keepers and sheep breeders of our Nellore district are requested to take advantage of this free opportunity provided by the state government. Announcement issued by: **Dr. Jana Chaitanya Kishore** Assistant Director, Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory (ADDL), Nellore, SPSR Nellore District.
