Khammam, June (Puvvada Nagendra Kumar (Punnami District Reporter) As part of taking steps to ensure that farmers get quality seeds and fertilizers, police and agriculture department officials jointly conducted surprise inspections on several fertilizer and seed shops in Karepally mandal of Khammam district on Friday. Karepally SI Gopi and Agriculture Department AO Ashok participated in these inspections conducted on the orders of Khammam Police Commissioner Sunil Dutt. The officials thoroughly examined the sales records, stock details, licenses, bill management and storage conditions in the shops. In addition to checking whether the seeds and fertilizers being sold to farmers were in accordance with government regulations, they also checked the manufacturing date, expiry date and company details on the packets. Speaking on the occasion, the officials warned that there would be no leniency against those selling fake seeds, substandard fertilizers and pesticides. They clarified that strict action would be taken against the owners of such shops and if necessary, cases would be registered and action would be taken under the PD Act. Farmers were advised to take the bill while purchasing seeds and fertilizers. He asked that information be provided to the Agriculture Department officials immediately if suspicious seeds or fertilizers are found.
