50 years since Gandhiji’s statue was erected: Statue donor’s wife honored

On the occasion of the completion of half a century (50 years) of the installation of the statue of the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi in Narsampet town, the statue donor’s wife, Maisveer Lachamma, was felicitated with a shawl on Wednesday. In the past, on the occasion of the centenary celebrations of Pujya Bapuji, the statue of Mahatma Gandhi was voluntarily installed in Narsampet town by the famous Guttedar Emar Swami (Maisa Ramaswamy alias Guttedar Ramaswamy). On the occasion of the completion of 50 years since then, on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti on October 2, this heartfelt felicitation program was organized on behalf of the people of Narsampet, remembering the services of the statue donor’s wife, Maisveer Lachamma, and the generosity of their family members. Speaking on the occasion, Vemula Sambayya Goud, former floor leader of Narsampet Municipality and vice president of Warangal DCC, said that the statue of Gandhiji has become a historical symbol for the town of Narsampet. The people of Narsampet will always be indebted to the maternal kindness shown by Emar Swamy 50 years ago. It is a great pleasure to reminisce about his memories and honour his wife Lachamma on Gandhi Jayanti.
