External evaluation should be abolished in home exams. It is unscientific to undertake external evaluation without preparation: TPTF State Vice President D. Srinivas ——————————————————————- TPTF State Vice President D. Srinivas demanded that the Education Department’s decision to conduct external evaluation for home exams from class one to class ten in government schools be immediately withdrawn. He said that it is not reasonable to take this decision without considering the teaching conditions, learning abilities of students, shortage of teachers and facilities available in schools. A sub-committee meeting of the TPTF Jangaon district branch was held in Jangaon on Wednesday under the chairmanship of District President N.N. Raju. D. Srinivas, who attended the meeting as a special invitee, said that in line with the spirit of the Right to Education Act, there should be an education system that removes the fear of exams among students and enhances their learning abilities. He expressed concern that in the context of promotion to higher classes based on the age of students in the non-detention system implemented in government schools, the introduction of external evaluation for home exams from class one to class ten without adequate preparation may put students and teachers under severe stress. He said that teachers’ teaching time is already being reduced due to CCE, FLN, LIP, remedial classes, various education programs, training programs, and online uploads. He said that the failure to appoint substitute teachers when teachers are on long-term leave is also affecting teaching. He said that in such situations, suddenly deciding to conduct external evaluation without prior planning, adequate training, and providing necessary resources will lead to confusion in the education system. He said that the remuneration related to the evaluation of class ten exams has also been pending for years, and in such a situation, he demanded that the education department clarify how the funds required for the external evaluation of home exams will be raised. District President NN Raju said that if external evaluation is to be introduced in the future, a decision should be taken after at least three years of advance planning, adequate training for teachers, readiness for learning for students, and necessary infrastructure facilities are provided. He opined that a decision should be taken after extensive discussions with educationists and teachers’ unions on issues like evaluation system and detention system in grades five and seven. He said that there are many aspects that need to be reformed in the education department, and he asked that steps be taken to provide basic infrastructure in government schools first and to ensure that there is one teacher for each class in primary schools. He suggested that priority be given to quality teaching, continuous supervision, and necessary teacher appointments to improve the learning levels of students. He said that all teachers are openly opposing the decision to implement external evaluation in this academic year itself without readiness and adequate resources. He demanded that the education department review this decision and cancel external evaluation, keeping in mind the interests of students and the actual conditions of government schools. District Chief Secretary Mohammed Ankushawali presented the vote of thanks for this meeting. State Councilor Kurremula Yadagiri, former district president B Lakmayya, Mohammed Ankushawali, y. Vajrayya, Srihari, Lakman Ji, Banothu Venkanna, Satyanarayana Reddy, Dudala Ramesh, Saradamma and J Rajendra Kumar among others participated in this meeting.
