Punnami Newsroom Published:

YSRCP Women’s Wing State General Secretary Ekula Rajeshwari Reddy questioned whether it was wrong for employees in the state to fight for their rights in a democratic manner. Speaking at her residence in Bhakarapet, Siddavatam mandal on Monday, she described the arrest of Secretariat employees in Vijayawada as a heinous act. She said that there were many instances in the past when employees achieved their rights through struggles. She said that it is not right to create obstacles in the struggles of employees without resolving their legal demands. She said that there were incidents in the past when governments were changed without addressing their rights. Rajeshwari Reddy urged the government to resolve the problems of employees through discussions and respond positively to their just demands. She criticized the coalition rule in the state for becoming anarchic. She said that imposing restrictions on the media that brings to light government failures and public problems is against the spirit of democracy. She accused newspapers and TV channels that broadcast news on unconstitutional acts and corruption of trying to silence them. Rajeshwari Reddy alleged that the government is trying to suppress the media that opposes them by providing benefits like mining and contracts to social media influencers and major media houses. She suggested that employees fighting on public issues should refrain from putting pressure on media houses and protect democratic values. Rajeshwari Reddy said that there is opposition among the people against the coalition government’s approach and the people will give a befitting reply in the coming days.
