The nameplate of Neknam Khan Kalakshetra should be restored immediately. A permanent memorial should be established in the name of Neknam Khan in Kadapa — Kadapa City Congress President Syed Ghaus Peer Punnami Representative September 21, Kadapa: Kadapa City Congress President Syed Ghaus Peer submitted a petition to the District Revenue Officer (DRO) on Monday, demanding that steps be taken to permanently preserve the memory of Neknam Khan, who is associated with the history of Kadapa. Speaking on the occasion, Ghaus Peer said that Neknam Khan made significant contributions to the expansion of Kadapa during the Qutub Shahi period in the 17th century. He said that his services to the development of education and art in Kadapa as well as social progress of the city are memorable in history. He said that the name “Neknamabad” will be mentioned in the history of Kadapa only because of his services to Kadapa. He demanded that the nameplate of “Neknam Khan Kalakshetra” which was removed during the renovations be restored immediately. He said that he is ready to install the nameplate at his own expense with the permission of the authorities. Similarly, he requested that steps be taken to permanently recognize his services by naming a park, garden, circle or suitable public place after Neknam Khan in Kadapa city. Ghaus Peer said that the DRO responded positively to the petition he submitted. He said that the responsibility for resolving the problem has been entrusted to the Kadapa Municipal Corporation (KMC) and necessary steps have been taken in coordination with the KMC Commissioner. City Vice President Anjan Kumar, Division Incharges Mahbub Bhasha, Siddique, Syed Anwar, Murad, Ghaffar, Arif, Sardar Bhasha, Subramaniam, Haji Bhai, Gauri Devi, Hamida Khanam and others, and Congress workers participated in the program.
