Bay of Bengal Low-Pressure Area and North Andhra Rain Alert

A low-pressure area has formed over the northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining regions, leading to an increase in monsoon activity across parts of eastern India and Andhra Pradesh. The system is expected to bring heavy rainfall, thunderstorms and gusty winds, particularly over North Andhra.

Weather impact in North Andhra

According to weather forecasts, isolated heavy rainfall is likely in parts of North Andhra Pradesh, while coastal districts may experience thunderstorms and strong winds. Areas including Visakhapatnam, Anakapalli, Kakinada and surrounding regions may receive light to moderate rainfall, with heavier spells possible at isolated locations.

Strong winds of around 40–60 km/h are expected along parts of the Andhra Pradesh coast, and sea conditions may remain rough to very rough. Fishermen have been advised to avoid venturing into the sea during the adverse weather period.

Precautionary measures

Residents in coastal and low-lying areas have been advised to remain alert during thunderstorms and heavy rain. People are also advised to avoid standing near trees, large hoardings and other potentially unsafe structures during periods of strong winds.

The weather system is part of an active monsoon pattern affecting several regions of India and is being closely monitored by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) and state authorities.
