Gudur September 16: The Chemistry Department of the local S.K.R. Government Degree College organized the International Ozone Preservation Day on Wednesday under the chairmanship of Principal Dr. K. Ramprasad. Speaking on the occasion, Principal Dr. K. Ramprasad said that it is everyone’s responsibility to protect the ozone layer as well as the environment and the earth, and students should be partners in environmental protection, and everyone should plant a tree and protect it. He suggested that everyone should be a partner in the programs being taken by the government for environmental protection, in addition to raising awareness on issues like climate change and greenhouse effect. Later, the faculty members of the Chemistry Department made the students aware of the importance of the ozone layer, the causes of ozone layer depletion, and the steps to be taken for ozone protection. They explained that the ozone layer plays a key role in maintaining ecological balance, and students and the public should play their part in its conservation. In this program, the Vice Principal of the college, Mrs. S. Kiranmayi, senior faculty members, faculty members of the Chemistry Department Mrs. Kripa Karunavani, Mrs. Sailaja, Dr. A.V. Prasad and other faculty members and students participated.
