Ganesh Utsavam was celebrated grandly at the Vinayaka idol installed at the back of Sri Kodanda Rama Temple in Ontimitta. As part of the celebrations, devotees worshipped the Lord with devotion and participated in special programs. An auction was held for the Lord’s laddu prasadam on Friday. Devotees enthusiastically participated in the auction to secure the laddu prasadam. Mamilla Meghamala (Beauty Parlor Meghamala Reddy), a resident of Mada Street in Ontimitta, secured the laddu for Rs. 2 lakh. Meghamala, who acquired the laddu for the highest price in the auction, was felicitated by the festival organizers with a shawl. Later, Meghamala was taken in a procession to her residence amidst the bursting of firecrackers and the playing of drums. On this occasion, a festive atmosphere prevailed in the surrounding areas. A large number of women, youth and villagers participated and celebrated the festival in a noisy manner. After bringing the laddu prasadam to their home, the Meghamala family members and the organizers distributed it to the villagers as prasadam. The Meghamala family members said that they feel lucky to have got the laddu of Lord Ganesha. The organizers said that they organize the Vinayaka Utsava every year with devotion and use the money raised from the laddu auction for the organization of the festival. Aliveni (Anu), Thanishwar Reddy, Poojita and others participated in this program. Devotees attended in large numbers and had darshan of the Lord and received the pilgrimage prasadam.
