Locals allege that nearly three acres of government DKT land has been encroached on in Survey No. 425/1 near Mohiddin Saheb Palle village under Shekharajupalle revenue limits of Siddavatam mandal. They claim that a person from the village has encroached on the land and is cultivating pomegranate, guava and other trees. Although articles have been published in several dailies on this issue in the past, locals are expressing their concern that the revenue authorities have not taken any action so far. They want a comprehensive survey to be conducted on the encroachment, to determine whether the land is a government DKT site or not, and to take legal action if the encroachment is true. Locals are concerned that there will be more encroachments if the authorities do not focus on the protection of government lands. In Andhra Pradesh, the authorities have the power under the law to repossess the land in cases where the rules of assigned lands are violated.
