Bank linkage loans for economic empowerment of women’s groups, loan scheme of Rs. 1 crore proposed for expansion of livelihood activities _ APAO Anjaneyulu

(Punnami Representative) Vemula Mandal, October 1: Velugu DRDA Assistant Project Manager (APM) Anjaneyulu suggested that women Self-Help Groups (SHGs) in Vemula Mandal should take advantage of loans obtained through bank linkage and expand their livelihood activities. He said that bank linkage loans would be a key source for the financial self-reliance of the groups. He said that a loan plan proposal of Rs. 1 crore has been prepared for the expansion of livelihood activities. He suggested that agricultural allied activities, micro-businesses and other sources of income should be selected considering the skills of the members, local resources and market opportunities. He said that the income and expenditure details should be recorded systematically while using the loans for productive purposes. Anjaneyulu suggested that credit discipline should be strengthened by repaying the loans on time, and that bank accounts, loan details, payments and other financial records should be maintained transparently. He said that the loan utilization and payments should be monitored at the village organization level and the necessary guidance should be provided by CCs and VOAs. Community coordinators Jyoti, Jayapal, Nageswari, Ganga, Raju, and Dwakra women participated in this program.
