Locals concerned over stray dog menace.. Demand immediate action Madhurawada, Visakhapatnam (Punnami Representative) September 19 :: People are concerned about the stray dog menace in many areas of Visakhapatnam. A five-year-old boy who was playing at home near D-Mart in the Madhurawada zone was attacked by a group of stray dogs, resulting in serious injuries to the boy, causing a stir locally. A couple named Daadhi Durga Rao and Sohita from Raghigili village in Srikakulam district come to Madhurawada for employment and live by doing daily chores. Their five-year-old son Kiran Kumar is studying in an anganwadi. On the 14th of this month at around 4 pm, the family members said that a group of stray dogs suddenly attacked the boy while he was playing at home. It is reported that the mother and the motorists there responded immediately to save the boy from the dog attack and chased away the dogs. Later, the family members said that the boy was given medical treatment. Locals are worried that children, the elderly, and people who go out in the morning and evening are being scared by stray dogs. They are demanding that the movement of dog groups be controlled, especially in areas where children play, residential areas, schools, and the vicinity of Anganwadis. Authorities should take immediate action. Keeping this incident in mind, the locals are demanding that the relevant authorities identify areas where dogs are infested and expedite legal animal control measures, anti-rabies vaccinations, and sterilization programs. They are appealing to create awareness among the public in areas where there are dangerous situations and strengthen the system to respond quickly to complaints. Preventive measures are important to prevent a repeat of the child’s incident. The locals are demanding that the authorities take steps towards a permanent solution while adhering to the animal welfare regulations along with public safety.
