Two boys die after falling into a quarry pit in Sitaramapuram A tragedy has taken place in the Sitaramapuram area of the fifth ward of Piduguralla town in Palnadu district. Locals said that two boys died after falling into a quarry pit. The deceased are said to be the brother and sister of Satish Gautham, aged about 7 and 12 years. Going into details, it is learnt that two boys from Markapuram area, residing in huts near the Kondamodu-Sitaramapuram-Pulichinthala R&R Center, had come for the Vinayaka Chavithi immersion program. Later, they went to the nearby quarry pit to wash clothes along with their aunt and another boy. In this sequence, it is reported that since there was water in the quarry pit, the two boys jumped into the water, thinking it was a shallow area. As a result, they drowned in the pit. Locals said that their aunt also jumped into the water to save the boys, and another boy who was with her also fell into the pit. At the same time, the tractor drivers there noticed the incident and immediately responded and rescued the boy’s aunt and another boy. However, when the two boys who had drowned in the pit were pulled out and taken to Piduguralla Government Medical College Hospital, they were already dead, locals said.
