The great poet Gurram Joshua, who reflected the sufferings of the oppressed classes in poetry **Prakasham District, September 28:** The 131st birth anniversary celebrations of the great poet Gurram Joshua were held in a grand manner at the Prakasam District Collector’s office. On this occasion, District Collector P. Rajababu paid tribute to the statue of Joshua by garlanding it. The Collector said that Joshua was a great poet who reflected the sufferings of the oppressed classes and the social conditions of that time in his works. He said that his poem *Babbilam* on social inequalities gave a revolutionary message. The Collector suggested that intellectual property should be developed in accordance with the reforms and ideals suggested by Joshua. He called for moving forward in society by abandoning the feeling of inferiority. Officers of various departments, leaders of associations and others participated in the program.
