*Press Release* *Massive Recovery of Mobile Phones through CEIR Portal – Kakinada District Police handed over 602 mobile phones to victims* *602 mobile phones worth Rs. 1,20,40,000 returned to victims* *District Police Office, Kakinada., Date: 04.07.2026* *With the special initiative of Kakinada District SP Shri G. Bindu Madhav, IPS*, the district police is successfully continuing the program of identifying lost or stolen mobile phones through the CEIR (Central Equipment Identity Register) portal and returning them to the victims. As part of the 12th installment of Mobile Recovery Mela organized today, 602 mobile phones worth Rs. 1,20,40,000 were handed over to their owners by the hands of District SP Shri G. Bindu Madhav, IPS. Based on the complaints received through the CEIR portal, the District IT Core team identified and seized these mobile phones using modern technology, IMEI tracking, GPS based tracing, digital forensics, cyber surveillance, data analysis etc. A total of 4,603 mobile phones have been recovered in the 12 phases conducted so far, with a total value of Rs. 7,68,67,000. The District SP said that Kakinada district is achieving remarkable results at the state level in terms of mobile recovery. Speaking on the occasion, District SP Shri G. Bindu Madhav, IPS, advised to register a complaint through the CEIR portal (www.ceir.gov.in) as soon as the mobile phone is lost. He also appealed to the people to immediately call the Cyber Crime Helpline (1930) or register a complaint on the website www.cybercrime.gov.in if they are victims of cyber fraud. Precautions to be taken immediately after the mobile phone is lost: – Bank accounts and UPI services should be temporarily secured. – The SIM card should be blocked immediately. – The passwords of Google, Apple ID, banking apps, WhatsApp, social media accounts should be changed. – Android users should use Find My Device, iPhone users should use Find My iPhone services. – A complaint should be registered immediately on the CEIR portal. Precautions to be taken while buying a second-hand mobile: – It is mandatory to check the mobile bill, box, IMEI number. – Be careful not to buy a mobile from strangers. District SP Shri G. Durga Shekhar Reddy, IT Core staff, DCRB, PCR, concerned DSPs, CIs, SIs and members of the mobile recovery team who played a key role in this successful mobile recovery. District SP Shri G.
