Khammam-Devarapalli Greenfield Highway.. A death road instead of development!

Khammam: The Khammam-Devarapalli Greenfield Highway, which should reduce travel time and serve as a compass for development, is turning into a deadly road with a series of accidents. The constant accidents on this road are making motorists fearful. While many are injured, some are losing their lives. This highway, built over a length of 165 km from Tallampadu in Khammam district to Devarapalli in AP, was inaugurated in August. It is estimated that the distance between Rajahmundry and Visakhapatnam will be reduced by about 100 km. However, on August 6, a mother and son from Gandhinagar Colony in Chintakani Mandal died after a car and a DCM collided at Dhamsalapuram. It is reported that nine people have died in five months. Driving vehicles exceeding the prescribed speed limit and lack of supervision are causing accidents. Motorists are facing difficulties due to incomplete entry and exit points. Random road travel, the movement of banned two-wheelers, autos and tractors are increasing the risk of accidents. People are demanding that safety measures be taken at bridges and junctions, speed control and increased monitoring be implemented. Authorities are being requested to respond and take steps to prevent accidents.
